Grafana Cloud: Observability as a Service — Platform Breakdown

A review of Grafana Cloud: metrics, logs, traces and profiles in a managed cloud. Pricing, pros, cons and the partner program in 2026.

Grafana has long stopped being just “that pretty dashboard for charts”. Today Grafana Labs sells a full managed observability platform — Grafana Cloud — that gathers metrics, logs, traces and profiles in one place. For teams that don’t want to administer their own Prometheus and Loki, it is the most obvious way to get enterprise monitoring without the DevOps pain.

What’s inside the platform

The core of Grafana Cloud is the LGTM stack: Loki (logs), Grafana (visualization), Tempo (traces), Mimir (metrics). On top of that:

  • Grafana Dashboards — the visualization that started it all;
  • Alerting — alerts with routing and deduplication;
  • Synthetic Monitoring — availability checks from around the world;
  • Application Observability — auto-instrumentation of applications;
  • OnCall — on-call schedules and incident escalation.

The main advantage of this approach is a unified data model. You are not gluing together three separate tools — you get already-connected signals: from metric to log, from log to trace.

Pricing: free is for real

Grafana Cloud’s free plan is surprisingly generous: 10,000 metrics, 50 GB of logs and 50 GB of traces per month, plus 14 days of retention. That’s enough for a personal project or a pilot. Paid tiers start at roughly $29/month and scale by data volume, which is traditional and predictable.

What to consider

Strengths:

  • an open ecosystem and hundreds of ready integrations;
  • a single stack for metrics, logs and traces;
  • a generous free plan and transparent pricing.

Weaknesses:

  • a learning curve if you’re not familiar with PromQL and Loki;
  • some advanced features are only available in expensive tiers;
  • no built-in AIOps on the level of Datadog.

Partner program

Grafana Labs has no classic mass affiliate program with referral links for content creators. The company works through a program for MSPs and resellers (Grafana Partner Program), aimed at service providers that implement observability for clients. For an affiliate site this means: no direct referral commissions, but the topic converts well into traffic thanks to “Grafana vs Datadog” comparisons.

Verdict

Grafana Cloud is the best choice for teams that want serious observability without Datadog’s price tag and without the hassle of a self-hosted stack. If you already run Prometheus and Grafana on your own servers, the cloud becomes the logical scaling step.
