The internet has thousands of articles about affiliate marketing. Almost all of them start with “earn millions while lying on the couch.” Spoiler: millions don’t come in a week. But the system can genuinely work.
I’ve put together a step-by-step plan that doesn’t require large investments. Everything is self-tested.
Step 1. Choose your platform format
You need a platform from which people will click your affiliate links. Three options:
Website (most reliable). Hugo, WordPress, or any static site generator. You write articles, they get indexed in search, traffic comes for years. Downside — SEO takes time (3-6 months for first results).
Telegram channel (quick start). Start a channel, publish useful content, build your first audience in 2-4 weeks. Links in posts work immediately. Downside — the channel lives only as long as you write in it.
YouTube videos (warmest traffic). Reviews, comparisons, tutorials. People trust the creator, conversion is higher. Downside — content production takes more time.
My choice: website + Telegram. Website gives passive traffic from search, channel gives quick results and direct audience contact.
Step 2. Choose a niche
Don’t write “about everything.” Pick one niche. Examples:
- Hosting and domains (B2B, stable payouts)
- Online courses (growing market, recurring payments)
- AliExpress / Marketplace products (mass demand, low entry barrier)
- Books (easy to write about, loyal audience)
- Financial services (high rates, but strict moderation)
Rule: you must understand the topic or be ready to dive deep into it. Shallow content doesn’t convert.
Step 3. Sign up for a CPA network
The easiest path — Admitad. One registration — access to thousands of offers. No need to negotiate with each advertiser separately.
After registration:
- Fill out your profile
- Submit your site for moderation
- Pick 2-3 offers in your niche
- Get your affiliate links
Step 4. Write your first article
Don’t copy what’s already in the top results. Find an angle competitors don’t have.
Example: “Best Hosting 2026” articles are everywhere. But “Hosting for an Online Store with 1,000 Products” — that’s more niche and will attract a more targeted audience.
Structure of a good article:
- Problem (what the reader is looking for)
- Solutions (review/comparison)
- Your conclusion and recommendation (with a link)
- FAQ
Step 5. Be patient
Affiliate marketing is a marathon. The first 2-3 months you’ll be writing “into the void.” Then search engines start indexing articles, traffic starts coming.
Golden rule: one article a day — minimum. In six months, you’ll have 180 articles. In a year — 365. This is a library working for you 24/7.
How much you can earn
Realistic numbers for a beginner:
- First month: $0-5
- Third month: $10-50
- Sixth month: $100-300
- One year: $500+/month with regular work
This isn’t fantasy; these are average figures with one article per day and the right niche choice.
The main advice
Don’t chase quick money. Don’t buy bot traffic. Don’t try to cheat the CPA network — you’ll get banned.
Create quality content that genuinely helps people choose. And money will come as a side effect.
